Spear & Jackson unveil what's new in the garden for 2019

In September we attended the annual GLEE trade show at the NEC. The event is a showcase for everything new in the world of Garden and Outdoor living, bringing together exhibitors, industry press, experts and buyers. This year the event was bigger than ever occupying an extra hall at the NEC, offering three days of networking and selling opportunities.

This year we had our largest ever stand which incorporated an eye-catching ‘green wall’ and a fantastic display of all our exciting new gardening and outdoor tools that will be hitting the market in time for spring and summer season 2019. Amongst the many new lines that you can look forward to seeing are the following:

Kew Gardens Collection Watering Range

This premium range will include; a Multi-function spray gun, 32” Watering Wand for easy watering of both high growing plants and hanging baskets, and for reaching down to water the base of plants growing in borders and pots, and a Turret Sprinkler for watering lawns and borders. Each item in the range will be available in a choice of three classic colours. The collection has been whole-heartedly endorsed by Greg Redwood, Head of Great Glasshouses and Horticultural Training at The Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.

There will also be a host of innovative new products to add to our rapidly expanding Garden Tidy category. With its patented modular head design, the 3-in-1 Rake is already attracting the attention of the Gardening Press. It offers the ability to switch easily from a wide head lawn rake, to a narrow shrub rake suitable for working in borders and around pots, and it also incorporates a really useful set of grabbers to clear away collected leaves and debris.

A colourful collection of Collapsible 10 Litre Buckets also looks set to be a winner. Highly portable these buckets fold flat for easy storage and are perfect for use in the garden, for camping and caravanning or just for the keeping in the cupboard under the sink.

We’re also introducing a new Astro Turf Rake Brush, with its specially curved bristles this brush is perfect for keeping the increasing numbers of artificial lawns looking clean and tidy.

Amongst other lines that will be coming soon are several new cutting tools in our Razorsharp range

  • A beautiful set of vintage styled Secateurs and Snips
  • Compact topiary shears, sharp and precise they are ideal for precision shaping and topiary
  • Powerful garden wire cutters, capable of biting through garden wire up to 4mm
  • A set of lightweight but strong nylon fibreglass ratchet action secateurs and loppers

To top off a really great event, we were delighted to win the Gold Award for Best Garden Tools as voted for by the readers of Grow Your Own magazine. The award was collected by our Marketing Manager, Karen Abbott and has been added to the trophy cabinet alongside our two previous Gold Awards!

You can see more of our new gardening tools in a special New For the Garden in 2019 mini brochure available now in our Resource centre.
