Job specification

Are you looking for a field-based role where you can drive profitable growth and expand distribution?

S&J UK are seeking an Area Sales Manager to join their UK Sales team, covering London and the Southeast. Reporting to the UK Sales Manager, this field-based role is responsible for driving profitable sales growth, expanding product distribution, and acting as the primary sales contact for key customers and distributors. You will develop and execute account-specific plans, implementing company sales and marketing strategies in collaboration with internal and national stakeholders.

In this role, you will lead all field sales activity within your territory, ensuring strong customer coverage, building lasting relationships, and resolving issues to support both customer satisfaction and sales performance. Working closely with direct and indirect customers, as well as distributor partners, you will present product ranges, negotiate commercial terms, and secure profitable business in line with agreed targets. Developing and reviewing account plans will be central to increasing distribution, driving revenue growth, and aligning activity with wider marketing initiatives.

You will also actively identify opportunities across merchandising, marketing, and operational initiatives to maximise sales potential and brand presence. Gathering market, competitor, and customer insights will be key to informing internal decision-making, while participation in trade shows, customer events, and quarterly sales reviews will support performance alignment and strategic planning. Accurate forecasting, CRM management, and reporting will be essential to track performance and plan territory activity effectively.

Ideally, you will have proven experience in a field-based sales role, with a strong track record of achieving sales, margin, and budget targets. You should be skilled in account planning, forecasting, and territory management, with excellent communication and influencing skills. Highly organised, commercially aware, and confident managing your own territory, you will thrive in a dynamic sales environment. Experience in home improvement, garden, DIY, or related sectors, as well as working with distributors or national accounts, is advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and commercially focused sales professional to take ownership of a key UK territory and make a significant impact.
