Spear & Jackson welcomes new members to the Export team
The Spear & Jackson Export team continues to expand with two new members; Lawrence Solman-Ripley and Brett Russell, who have joined us this Summer.
Lawrence Solman-Ripley joined us in July as Export Sales Executive and has quickly been getting used to the world of Export sales.
Before returning to his hometown of Sheffield to join Spear & Jackon, Lawrence lived in Manchester, where he graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with 1st Class Degree in Retail Marketing Management. After his university degree, he worked in Manchester as a sales executive and latterly as a sales manager, until deciding that it was time to cross the Pennines and come back to Sheffield.
In his spare time, you'll find Lawrence doing one of two things: most weekends he can be found at Bramall Lane, home of Sheffield United FC, and on the off chance that he isn't in the stands supporting The Blades, you'll probably find him hiding away with a tub of popcorn, watching Denzel Washington classics.
Lawrence commented; "I'm really happy to be joining such a well-known and prestigious company in Spear & Jackson. The job ahead of me is really exciting and I can't wait to learn the ropes and make a positive contribution to an already established and successful team".
Second new team member, Brett Russell, joined the export team in August as Regional Export Sales Manager covering the Middle East and Asia. Brett brings with him a wealth of experience in international sales after spending 12 years in the Oil and Gas industry developing the markets in USA, Canada, UAE, Oman, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Singapore and Vietnam.
Before that Brett worked in the hand tool industry for Irwin Industrial Tools, spending time in the Customer Service team before moving to help set up the Demonstration and Research team. In this role Brett worked across job sites, and with Builders Merchants across the UK, to promote the brand and develop new products for market.
Brett says; "It's great to come back into the hand tools market after several years away. I'm really looking forward to meeting our international customers and working alongside everyone at Spear & Jackson to grow the export market".
Outside work you’ll typically find Brett on the Badminton court where he still plays at county standard across the UK. When he doesn’t have a racquet and shuttlecock to hand you’ll find him working on his handicap, or more accurately, searching in the rough for his golf ball on the local Sheffield courses, family and weather permitting!
Our Export Director, Steve Turner, says “We’re really delighted to welcome both Lawrence and Brett to Spear & Jackson and look forward to their future successes in their new Export team roles”.
