S&J UK are looking to recruit an experienced National Field Sales Manager to join their busy UK Sales Team. This is an exciting role offering the successful candidate great levels of variety, challenge and opportunity to drive this area of S&J UK

Reporting to the UK Sales Director, the National Field Sales Manager will be accountable for assigned national accounts, business development opportunities and the management of the UK Area Sales Manager network; furthermore line management of the Tele Sales Exec to support all national and field sales activity. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to play a key role in the delivery of national account sales targets and team field sales targets.

The successful candidate will ensure the effective implementation of the UK sales strategy and area sales / account activities consistent with overall aims and requirements of the Business; with a responsibility for overseeing National Account initiatives and developing / prospecting new business opportunities, pursuing opportunities unique to each account in terms of marketing, merchandising and operations; whilst implementing and developing account strategies in accordance with the overall channel strategy, account goals and business plans for each customer. The post-holder will be responsible for developing proposals, negotiating terms and conditions, and implementing agreements once approved to support the delivery of strong financial results; whilst ensuring detailed individual customer needs are met, furthermore maintaining strong executive relationships with key personnel within the assigned accounts.

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for a team of Area Sales Managers, ensuring effective leadership, direction and motivation to enable the delivery and over achievement of budgeted sales and profitability; and providing effective people / performance management, by ensuring daily contact, regular accompaniments, performance management and training and development.

To be considered for this role, applicants will have a good level of academic achievement (ideally to degree level or equivalent), with sales team management experience, from a Tools / Hardware industry background. Proven sales performance track record and relevant account management experience is essential. 

The successful candidate will be ambitious, target driven, and sales orientated, with a natural ability to be both a ‘people’ and ‘national account’ manager. Applicants will enjoy managing, inspiring and getting the best out of people combined with being a natural sales professional with excellent commercial awareness, first-class communication / interpersonal and customer service skills. Furthermore, excellent computer skills including the full Microsoft Office package, CRM systems and SAP experience is preferred.

In addition, to be considered for this role applicants must be in possession of a full valid UK driving licence and comfortable with regular UK travel and periods working away from home.
