Award-Winning Products

Spear & Jackson is delighted to have been recognised once again in the 2021 Great British Growing Awards organised in conjunction with Grow Your Own Magazine and GIMA . The awards ceremony took place at GLEE and Spear & Jackson products came out on top in two categories.

Best Garden Tool was won by the Spear & Jackson Razorsharp Heavy Duty Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Loppers

These fantastic Loppers are designed for pruning dead and/or hard woody branches. Their ratchet operating mechanism amplifies force and cuts the branch in short easy steps requiring less physical effort from the gardener, particularly helpful when pruning hard to reach and higher growth. The upper blade is made from SK5 Carbon steel for lasting sharpness, and a PTFE coating prevents rusting and enables a smooth cut. The handles are made from tubular aluminium which is very strong and durable but surprisingly lightweight in comparison to more traditional steel handle loppers. The handles are telescopic, operated with a twist and lock mechanism that allows them to be extended from 710mm – 1030mm for pruning high up and out of reach branches. The handles have soft feel, non-slip grips for safety and comfort and they have a locking catch for safe storage

Best Kneelers & Knee Pads was won by the Spear & Jackson Kew Gardens Collection Kneeler, which saw off stiff competition in a hard fought category. The Kew Gardens Collection from Spear & Jackson has been developed in close partnership with the horticultural team from the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew to create a premium range of garden tools and accessories that are genuinely ‘used and recommended by Kew’. The Kew Gardens collection Kneeler offers the optimum level of comfort from a kneeling pad for working on hard ground. The hard-wearing, comfortable cushioned pad is made from a unique 5-layer combination of EVA and foam and its peanut shape ensures the maximum cushioned area is where it’s needed most, under the knees. It has an easy clean, quick-drying nylon cover with an SBR (Neoprene) water-resistant lining for working on damp surfaces. It features an integral handle for carrying and hanging up in the shed after use. In a choice of two colours in the Kew collection livery, every sale ensures a contribution towards Kew’s vital work in plant science and conservation.

It's always gratifying to be judged as the Best by industry experts from amongst many other worthy competitors and these awards will be proudly displayed alongside the others in our trophy cabinet!
